G1 - Glowing

Our first step in this process is what we refer to as Glowing.  It simply means that we have come alive in the love of Christ, and are Glowing because of His presence in our life.  This is where we find personal joy and the abundant life Jesus spoke of in John 10:10.  When we are practicing this part of the journey, we are living out our faith as a G1 Christian.  The defining points of this part of our journey consists of:

Accepting Christ:
This is where it all begins.  Jesus said, “I have come to seek and to save that which was lost.”  The work of Christ on the cross was to give us victory over sin both in this life and in the life to come.  We have trusted Christ with all that we are; with our eternity and our day-to-day living.  He has truly become our Lord and Savior.  This is where our Glowing begins.  The flame of Christ has been struck in your life and we have been ignited with His glory and grace.  We cannot move forward with Christ if we have not first received His work of redemption.  If you are reading the booklet and realize that you have not settled this issue, stop reading and call our church office and speak with a minister immediately!  We cannot move forward with Christ until we know Him as Lord and Savior.

Prayer and the Reading of the Word:

As we begin our walk with Jesus, it is important to “feed the flame” through reading the Word of God and prayer.  This will not be the last time we speak of these disciplines, but at this point in our journey the Bible and prayer reveal to us the beauty and wonder of our Lord as they draw us closer to Him.  This is an essential part of Glowing in Christ.

Continual Fellowship with God:

A major mistake new believers make is to think of their faith as a “Sunday only” thing.  We must quickly learn that Glowing for Jesus is for every day.  Even when we are not in the word or in prayer actively, it is important to train our mind to think on the wonderful things of Christ.  The scripture tells us to “set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on earth.”  There must be an intentional effort on our part to stay focused on Jesus.  This keeps our life from being tarnished and keeps us shining for Christ.

Worship:

Worship is also essential to Glowing for Jesus.  During the worship experience we are able to celebrate who Jesus is and all that He has done.  It is a time of prayer, fellowship with Christ, praise, hearing of the Word, and giving back to God.  There is nothing like worship to bring our faith to a high gloss.  I leave our worship times week in and week out thankful and excited that Jesus is my Savior!  You will too if you faithfully commit to attending and participating with all your heart as we worship Jesus together.

Conclusion:  As you come to this body of believers, our first prayer is that you will glow like a great fire on a hill for Jesus.  We desire for you to know that you have trusted Jesus as Lord and Savior, to engage Him in prayer and the reading of His word, to walk in fellowship with Him daily, and to worship with the congregation.  As you practice this aspect of your faith I know you will Glow ever deeper with the glory of Christ.  Can you imagine an entire church so devoted?  What an amazing place of glory our fellowship will be as people commit to being a G1 believer.
