Meet the Pastor

Meet the Pastor
A message from the pastor, Joe Newton

At Arlington Baptist Church we recognize that we all have a purpose in this life.  We believe this purpose begins by receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life.  But remember, this is just the beginning; Jesus desires not only that we know Him but that we live everyday with Him and for Him.  Here at Arlington Baptist Church we call this discovering life’s purpose.  We even have a catchy way of saying this; we call it becoming a G3 believer (check out our G3 tab to get more information about this idea.)  As G3 believers we are committed to living life glowing for Christ, growing in Christ, and going for Christ.  When we live this way we have discovered life’s purpose.

This is a little bit of who we are, but you will never really know us until you visit with us.  You will find our church ready to receive you and to walk with you in the truth of God’s Word as you learn to live walking with our Lord.  I hope you will come and see all that God is doing at Arlington Baptist Church.

Information about me
I am a husband and the father of five, serving as pastor of Arlington Baptist Church.  My wife, Lori, is a stay at home mom who volunteers at First Coast Women Services, teachs a ladies Sunday School class, and hosts a mother daughter Bible study on purity four times a year.  Our children are Harrison, Hannah, Halie, Hattie, and Hayden.

Personal Testimony:
I accepted Christ the summer of my 18th year.  Several months earlier a friend had invited me to church.  I accepted his offer and as I sat under the truth of scripture I realized that I needed Christ.  This has been the greatest decision I have ever made.  I soon began attending Arlington Baptist Church as a member.  During this time I grew in my faith, met my wife and had my first son.  Shortly after his birth the Lord called me into the ministry.  We sold our home and moved to Southeastern Theological Seminary and College.  There I earned a B.A. in Biblical Studies.  Our next adventure began when I took the Pastorate at Cedar Hills Baptist Church.  We served there for 6 years and enjoyed both the people of that fellowship and watching God restore His church.  It was a blessed time of growth and personal maturing.  In 2003 I was called to become the Pastor at Arlington Baptist Church where we have served ever since.  We are thankful as a family to be at this wonderful fellowship.
